Guide for International Attendees – World Engineering Education Forum 2026
Important Information for Your Trip to Colombia
To support your travel planning and ensure a smooth arrival, we are pleased to share useful information for all international participants attending WEEF 2026 in Cartagena.
1. Before Traveling
Check-Mig Immigration Form
All travelers entering or leaving Colombia must complete the official Check-Mig form issued by Migración Colombia before traveling.
This online registration includes information related to your flight, purpose of travel, and personal details.
It is mandatory and free of charge.
It must be completed between 72 hours and up to 1 hour before your flight.

Visa Requirements
Before traveling, participants are advised to verify entry requirements according to their nationality.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Colombia allows visa-free entry for short stays to citizens of many countries; however, nationals from certain countries in Africa, Asia, and specific territories may require a visa before traveling.

Vaccination and Travel Insurance
Although there is currently no general mandatory vaccination requirement, some travelers may need to present a yellow fever vaccination certificate depending on their country of origin or transit route.
International travel medical insurance is also strongly recommended.
2. Upon Arrival in Cartagena
Air access to the city is through Rafael Núñez International Airport, located just a few minutes from the historic center and hotel district.
The main event venue is the Cartagena de Indias Convention Center, strategically located by the bay, close to the historic center and major hotels.
Transportation from the Airport to the Event Venue
The airport offers an official taxi service with fixed fares via authorized rate tickets available at the terminal exit
Digital transportation platforms such as Uber and Cabify are also available.
Due to local regulations, some drivers may ask passengers to sit in the front seat.
Currency Exchange
Currency exchange services are available at the airport; however, exchange rates may be less favorable.
We recommend using debit or credit cards or withdrawing cash from ATMs
Tips and Cash
Although card payments are widely accepted in Cartagena, carrying some cash is advisable for small purchases, tips, or informal payments.
In restaurants, a suggested 10% service charge is commonly included in the bill; this charge remains voluntary.
Health Recommendations
To prevent gastrointestinal discomfort during your stay, it is recommended to drink bottled water only and avoid tap water
Medical Emergencies: In case of an emergency, the unified national emergency number in Colombia is 123. Additionally, most hotels in Cartagena offer on-call medical services for minor health issues. We strongly recommend carrying your international travel insurance details at all times.
3. Useful Information During Your Stay
The standard voltage in Colombia is 110V and plug types are A and B (two flat pins).
Average temperature in Cartagena ranges between 28°C and 32°C throughout the year.
Light, comfortable clothing suitable for warm weather and conference activities is recommended.
Local currency: Colombian peso.
Card payments are widely accepted throughout the city.
Time Zone: Colombia operates on GMT-5 (UTC-5) all year round. The country does not observe Daylight Saving Time, which is an important factor to consider when scheduling international calls during the forum.
